U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has extended the temporary waiver of the requirement that a civil surgeon’s signature on Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, be dated no more than sixty days before the date it is accepted by USCIS. Pursuant to the extension, Form I-693 dated more than sixty days prior to USCIS acceptance will remain acceptable until March 31, 2023.
What is an immigration physical or USCIS physical?
The USCIS physical is a medical exam issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to individuals who are applying for a Green Card with the intention of immigrating to the United States. According to Jonathan Petts, Esq (2021) of Immigration Help: “Under U.S. immigration law, all green card applicants must complete the immigration medical exam to confirm that they are in good health and are fit to live in the United States as permanent residents.”
What is included in the medical exam?
Mental and physical examination
Medical history and immunization or vaccine record review
Drug and alcohol screening
Testing for various illnesses and diseases
What medical records do you need to prepare?
A full copy of your medical history
Vaccination and immunization records
Any previous copies of chest X-rays
If you have a health condition, then it is advisable to bring your regular doctor’s letter outlining a treatment plan
Government-issued photo ID to verify your identity
Funds to pay for your medical exam are not USCIS-regulated. Fees may vary across different USCIS jurisdictions and geographic locations

The Process
Step 1: Submit the electronic Form I-693 (PDF) (see electronic form below to get this done right now!).
Copies of Form I-693 are also available at the office.
Step 2: Print your answered form and bring it to your scheduled visit
Step 3: Arrive at your scheduled appointment early in order to have ample time to accomplish any additional documents
Step 4: Physical exam proper: First, our USCIS-certified doctor will go through your completed Form I-693 and other medical records. Next, the doctor will then examine you for any symptoms that might uncover cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, neurological, or psychiatric disorders as well as conducting routine physical exams such as checking of vitals, ears, nose, throat, eyes, heart, etc. If needed, the doctor might require additional examinations
Step Five: You’re done! All you need to do now is wait for your results.
