Vaccine/Immunization Records

It is very important that you track your child’s immunization records. Start tracking your child’s vaccination records as soon as they receive their first shot.

Many schools may require your child’s latest vaccine/immunization records be due by the first day of school. Immunizations are critical to preventing the spread and contraction of diseases, especially in a school setting where large numbers of children are often in contact with each other.

You can track your child’s vaccine records by:

  • Requesting a vaccination tracking card from your child’s doctor

  • Requesting your doctor to input all the vaccines your child has received in your state’s immunization information system (IIS). An IIS is a statewide, confidential, and computerized database that keeps a record of all the vaccines administered to a patient by the participating providers .

Can’t seem to find your child’s immunization records?

Your child will be considered vulnerable to disease and should be vaccinated (or revaccinated). Even if your child may have already received a vaccine, it is safe for your child to be revaccinated for the same thing. Another option is to have your child be blood tested for antibodies to test their immunity to specific diseases. However, these blood tests are not always accurate, and your doctor may recommend to revaccinate your child for better protection
